NearHim Home Educators is a self-supporting ministry; meaning all activities are paid from the membership fees. Families desiring to participate in any NHE-sponsored activities (except the Bible Study) must pay a membership fee of $50 per year (includes $18 FPEA fee) and complete a service task in at least one area during the school year. Single moms may join NHE and just pay the $18 FPEA fee. Membership to NHE also covers membership to the Florida Parent Educators Association, a statewide support organization for home schooling families. FPEA hosts a state convention each May in Orlando and is active in keeping Florida "home schooling friendly." Members receive a discounted rate and The Almanac, a publication that provides current home schooling information. |
